Today on the blog tour I'll be interviewing Danielle Joseph, author of SHRINKING VIOLET.

About Shrinking Violet
For high school senior Teresa Adams, every day is an ordeal. She’s so painfully shy that she lives in dread of having to speak to anyone in the hallways or answer questions in class. But after school, in the privacy of her bedroom with her iPod in hand, she rocks—doing mock broadcasts for Miami’s hottest FM radio station, which happens to be owned by her stepfather. When a slot opens up, Tere surprises herself by working up the nerve to ask her stepfather to give her a chance—and finds herself The SLAM’s newest intern on one of the station’s most popular shows. Behind the mike she’s Sweet T, her sexy, confident on-air persona. To everyone’s shock—especially her mother’s—Sweet T is a hit. Even Gavin, the only guy in school who she dares to talk to, raves about the mysterious DJ’s awesome taste in music, making Tere wonder if it’s possible to be jealous of yourself. But when The SLAM announces a songwriting contest—and a prom date with “Sweet T” is the grand prize--Sweet T’s dream could turn into Tere’s worst nightmare. . . .

Me:  Welcome to the blog tour.  Congratulations on the debut of your novel and also the debut of your new baby, Naya!  Thanks for taking the time to stop in and answer a few questions.  First: What competes for your time and how do you manage to give writing the appropriate amount of time it requires?

Danielle: Three kids, seven and under. That includes a one month old. Then of course there's laundry, email, carpool, get the picture! I try and write whenever I have a free moment, usuallly at night.

Me: Yes, I get the picture!  What is your writing routine? Do you outline or write as you go? Do you fully sketch and develop your main character initially, or get to know him/her as you write?

Danielle: I formulate an idea in my head, sketch out a few things and then dive in. After I write a few chapters I go back and do a mini outline.

Me: What do you particularly love about the setting you portray in your book?

Danielle: Well, since I live in Miami I'm very partial tto the setting!

Me: What actor or actress do you imagine playing your main character in a movie or T.V. version of your book?

Danielle: Ellen Page from Juno would be great!

Me: Great! Thanks for stopping in! Now back to that new baby!
